    A community’s super heroes

    California State Grange

    California State Grange

Granges have supported farmers since the late 1860s, and subsequently expanded their support to other areas of the community. Ironically, the head of the National Grange, which allegedly supports the state charters, has become greedy with power, intimidating state charter heads and sometimes forcing them out of office.

Although the Grange fights for farmers and healthy food for its communities, many people don’t even know it exists.

In this week’s podcast, I speak with Jay Hearnley, President of Sacramento Community Grange, #843, about the lawsuit against the California Grange by the National Grange, and how California’s state granges nevertheless continue to support their communities as they have for over 140 years.
