Send in your Seuss-inspired recipes
This month and through June 30, three recipes from the “Green Eggs and Ham Cookbook” by James Beard award-winning author Georgeanne Brennan are available at Who’s Cooking School Lunch (www.whoscookingschoollunch.com).
Every March, on or near Dr. Seuss’ birthday, March 2, the National Education Association (NEA) celebrates with its Read Across American Campaign. Brennan and her From the Ground Up writing partner, Ann Evans, say “cook across America” as well, and serve three recipes from the Green Eggs and Ham Cookbook, adapted by our firm, Evans & Brennan, LLC, with permission from the publisher, Random House.
Recipes meet National School Lunch Requirements. Each recipe can be downloaded from the website as family size, or in Nutrikids format:
~ Green Eggs and Ham (family, 36, 100)
~ Cat’s Sticks Mix (family, 32, 100 )
~ Noodle-Eating-Poodle Noodles (family, 32, 100)
The Green Eggs and Ham Cookbook is chock full of healthy, fun and wacky recipes inspired by the beloved Dr. Seuss books. School meals can be fun, healthy and delicious too, and connected to the classroom.
Cooks and chefs can tell Brennan and Evans about their creativity by participating in as cooking celebration of Dr. Seuss-inspired recipes. Send photos of your school district or child care site’s meal to email@example.com. Brennan and Evans will select from them and post.
