    This Is Us

I’ve never really embraced the term “American exceptionalism.” I have, however, always been proud of what our country stood for. I loved that people around the world aspired to come here to work hard to achieve the American dream.

And, except for Native Americans and black Africans who were forced onto boats and into slavery, our  ancestors did just that. They came here for a better life.

But the implication that we are superior to, say Canada or New Zealand, always made me uncomfortable. Don’t all countries think they’re exceptional? Isn’t that just national pride?

Well now I’m squeamish for a whole other reason. An alarming number of Americans are exceptionally stupid, embarrassing, and dangerous.

Thanks to lying, cheating, stealing, whoring, race-baiting, colluding, conspiring, disgusting Donald Jagoff Trump; the scumbag dredges of this earth have been given the green light to go ahead and “just be you.”

Trump did not invent racism or bigotry or unkind behavior. He’s just feeding it like a mother robin regurgitating into the mouths of her babies.

And his birdbrain sycophants are willing to swallow anything, and I mean anything, that asshole shoves down their throats.

Recent polls show around 40 percent of Americans approve of how this moron is running our country.

That’s 40 percent of misguided humanity.

For now, let’s put aside Robert Mueller’s investigation and only look at the facts. No spin. No opinion. Just some of the words and deeds of the man these numbskulls are blindly following.

Trump says the majority of Mexican immigrants are rapists and murderers. He wants to ban Muslims from entering the United States. Trump bragged about walking in on naked teenage pageant girls. Trump boasts he can grab women by their pussies. He very publicly lusts after his own creepy daughter. He attacked a Gold Star family. Trump sees the good on both sides of a white supremacist march. He constantly belittles terminally ill, war hero, John McCain. He claimed an American judge couldn’t be fair to him because “he was Mexican.” Trump made the U.S. the only country in the world not in the Paris Climate Agreement. Trump withdrew from the United Nations Human Rights Council. He threatened to only protect NATO countries that have paid their fair share, regardless if they’ve fought wars on our behalf. Donald Trump stood next to Vladimir Putin in Helsinki and took his side over the intelligence community of the United States. His one-word do-over was unconvincing. Trump instituted tariffs and, as a result, had to issue $12 billion in emergency aid for farmers. He wants to roll back the clean car and fuel economy standards.

But in my opinion, the worst act committed by Trump has been the separation of immigrant children from their moms and dads. Thousands of kids, and their parents, have experienced permanent emotional damage as a result of Trump’s heartless policy disguised as a deterrent. There was no plan to reunite. None. And nobody in Trump’s administration gives a rat’s ass if that never happens.

    And neither does Trump’s base.

They do what they’re told, disbelieve their own eyes and ears, and dutifully raise a stiff arm of support to their leader. I’m not sorry to make a Hitler reference here. If Trump and his idiots don’t want to be compared to Nazis, they need to stop telling parents they’re taking their kids to the showers, only to abduct them.

And while we’re at it, liberals need to stop calling this immoral zero tolerance immigration policy Trump’s “Katrina.” Trump already had his Katrina. And her name is Maria. Yet another hurricane miserably mishandled by a clueless U.S. President.

Trump’s chumps may choose to look the other way when it comes to his disgusting behavior because, well, Neil Gorsuch. Or they’ve acquired a taste for snake oil. But I believe many of them came for the Trump Show, but stayed for the racism.

Trump started his presidential bid by delegitimizing Barack Obama with the whole birther lie in 2011. Racists across America began salivating and paying attention to The Apprentice buffoon. He refused to disavow David Duke, hell he didn’t even know who the guy was. Trump justified the beating of a Black Lives Matter protestor at one of his rallies. He relentlessly questions African American brain power. Trump couldn’t understand how Barack Obama graduated from Columbia and Harvard so he circulated a rumor that Obama was a lousy student.

Trump told African American pregnant widow, Myeshia Johnson, that her husband (whose name escaped him) knew what he was signing up for during his CONDOLENCE CALL. And then he implied she was lying when she recounted the conversation. He called African American congresswoman, Frederica Wilson, who confirmed Trump’s words to her constituent, “wacky.”

He calls Maxine Waters “low IQ,” Don Lemon the “dumbest man on television,” and LeBron James “stupid.”

Trump’s rhetoric has consequences and we’re seeing it played out when his empowered, racist white chumps call the cops on: black guys at Starbucks, a black woman asleep in her college study room, a little black girl selling bottles of water, a black boy mowing the lawn, and a black family at a swimming pool.

Racist cops didn’t stop their ruthless behavior when they got body cams. The only difference now is we can actually see the injustice, from start to finish, and those cops know they have the United States President on their side.

I’ll say it again. Trump did not invent racism. But he sure as hell is condoning it.

Our focus between now and November must be to get out the vote. We’ve got the majority. Let’s knock on doors, volunteer, talk to friends.

Please don’t waste your time on Trump’s racist, misogynistic, homophobic chumps. Their better angels went out to the 7-Eleven for a carton of smokes. And they’re never coming back.

I knew Trump was a joke as far back as the Birther nonsense, but it was the moment he mocked a disabled NYT reporter that it went from “joke” to “pure scumbag” territory for me. I’m glad to see you haven’t forgotten his lowlights, let’s hope others haven’t.

Yes I hated that disgusting moment too. That, and many other lowlights, didn’t make it in based on my 1000 word ceiling. Thanks for reading, D! 🙂

I got no farther than the assertion that, excepting Native Americans, “we” all came here looking for a better life.

Had trouble getting past the assertion that excepting Native Americans “we” came here looking for a better life.

Very good point, Reg. I was wrong not to mention the many Africans forced to come to America to make white slave owners’ lives better. Thank you for waking me up.
