Trump voters, BOHICA (look it up)

The best index to a person’s character is how he treats people who can’t do him any good, and how he treats people who can’t fight back.
    Abigail Van Buren

Now isn’t that a pretty picture? (credit https://pbs.twimg.com)

Yeah, Trump voters, it’s me again with another probable exercise in futility, but I am nothing if not persistent — sometimes chuckleheadedly so.

When your (dyed) golden-haired boy was up on his podium, whipping you into a frenzy over the dread perils of foreigners, minorities, uppity women and liberals (he saved betraying gay people for later), vowing to lock Hillary up or worse, you got too excited to pay attention to the one thing that all the evils you ignored were telling you — this man has no character.

Trump has never dealt with a true consequence, knows nobody outside his sycophantic goldfish bowl, his brainwashed kids and his lonely, isolated wife. He has no ties to the natural world, is indifferent to animals and the sick, elderly or injured disgust him (contains a recording of Trump comments on an injured elderly man). His taste is gaudy, his appetites bizarre on every level and he thrives on chaos and disorder. And yet, you voted for him because you somehow managed to confuse crudeness and cruelty with the common touch.

He has no common touch. He was born elite, sucks up to people of higher status who secretly or not so secretly despise him and he thinks that the rest of us are disposable nobodies who matter not at all, in some ways best exemplified by the continuing horror in Puerto Rico.

By now you are as familiar with his litany of vileness as the rest of us unless you live in an isolation chamber with your fingers in your ears singing to yourself “lalalalalala” at the top of your lungs. I am honestly in no mood to list it all again. I’d be up all fucking night.

What I will do is try to point out that everything he was before — he still is. The vile behavior with women — his tweets about Morning Joe host, Mika Brzezinski (details here) and Senator Gillibrand (details here) are evidence that nothing has changed.

He was unconscionably disrespectful to Myeshia Johnson, the widow of Army Sgt. La David Johnson, one of the U.S. soldiers killed in Niger (the gawdawful details within ) as well and it was witnessed by Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-FL — he then proceeded to lie about it after impugning the Congresswoman’s integrity in the most egregious way (there he goes again ).

He still lies about absolutely everything.

In fact, he doesn’t just lie about everything, he lies about things that there’s no point lying about. Little things. Like never going to go golfing (all the numbers right here). And big things — with the #MeToo movement, he is now lying about the pussy grabbing video, saying it never happened. (Sorry, you sad sack of orange rot, Billy Bush confirms you said it. In fact, you said it to him. (He admits to sexual assault as if proud of it.)) The New York Times (the list right here) has counted his lies. It’s staggering. If he wanted to set a record, he sure the fuck has.

He has a history of thriving on chaos — keeping staffers scared, screaming and humiliating them before firing them with no warning. He applies this tactic to everything he does but this is in no way governing. No, it’s terrifying. He has the emotional regulation of a spoiled toddler — with his hand on the nuclear button. Will he nuke us all in a fit of pique?

And he didn’t drain the swamp. He filled it. He filled it with the vilest choices he could find, choices he could count on to destroy everything good we have ever done as a country. Every. Single. Thing. He colludes with people in Congress so corrupt that there is every evidence they knew damn good and well what he was up to with Russia and did nothing because they thought they could use him to push their inhumane and even downright genocidal agenda. Social Security? Medicaid? Out on the streets with your wheelchairs, you useless old shites! Prolife? Sure, as long as they aren’t born yet — bye-bye CHIP (more about CHIP). And you wanted health insurance? Nah. That’s for the rich, so just go fuck off and die.

The irony is — we warned you. We warned you and warned you and warned you. When you brayed about “fake news” (it wasn’t), we showed you videos of him saying one thing and lying about it later. We brought your attention to the parallels between his rallies and the violence against people of color back in the day. We asked if you had seen the Pussygate video and you had, of course.

But you did not care. And that’s when it hit us. You do not care.

    • You did not care that he assaulted women.
    • You did not care that he was a fraud and grifter who preyed on elders and veterans.
    • You did not care if he was an overt racist — in fact, you were delighted that he was just like you!
    • You did not care that he was happy to let terrified refugees die in flames rather than let people in who had been more thoroughly vetted than any of you would ever be.

    You. Did. Not. Care.

And every woman who had been assaulted, every person of color (save a deluded few), everybody on the LGBTQI spectrum, every veteran whose care he fritters away on golf trips, every immigrant — every person who needs America to be a place of decency, honor and even empathy — knew that You. Do. Not. Care.

So now you’re in this ship with the rest of us. Your Social Security? Poof! Medicare? Hah! Kiss retirement’s fleeing butt goodbye, suckers. Your ailing children? Too bad! They aren’t fetuses. Your grown children – just watch them die if they get really sick – it’s so entertaining! Oh, and as for you, just don’t get cancer. Trust me on this.

Already some of you are waking up. Good on you. Join your voices and #resist. As for the rest of you – BOHICA.

Bend Over. Here It Comes Again.

I am SO with you about the GOP’s concern for tadpoles but once the baby’s born — bye bye CHIP, Head Start, etc. GREAT COLUMN! You nailed the dumb bastards to the wall. 🙂

And if only it was legal to do so legally… Perhaps if I used zip ties instead…

I keep thinking it can’t get any worse, but it does. The tax bill, CDC can’t say “scientific based evidence, next up, social security, Medicare/Medi-cal cuts. I’m seriously worried about how much damage he will do in the four years he’s in office. (I have no confidence that he will be indicted or impeached). Great column Maya!

Thank you so much! And now he’s threatening the freaking United Nations! As if all other countries are actually subject to our! We aren’t just a global joke under this lurching sack of decaying orange protoplasm — we are a dismissed disgrace.
